Meres open doors to talent

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Grantham Town are holding an open day next Saturday for talented young players hoping to join their growing youth set-up.

The Premier Division's Gingerbreads are planning to open the doors at the Meres to prospective players and their parents from 11am on June 15 to show off the club's facilities.

Head of Youth Development and U18s manager Eddie Humphreys is due to give a presentation before conducting tours of the club's stadium and facilitiies. Many of the club's current coaches plus members of their youth teams will also be at Grantham's newly refurbished MCS Centre for informal discussions and to talk about their own experiences.

Humphreys said: "The infrastructure is now in place to move the youth development of the club forward and build on the success that the current U12s, U16s and U18s have had. We have highly qualified and enthusiastic coaches, some from professional academies and qualified to UEFA levels, and now we need the players!

"We are looking for players with potential to progress, who are willing to listen, learn and who are committed. The emphasis will be more on development than results and we need people to buy into that. Our aim is to produce more local talent for the first team and beyond and provide a clear pathway of progression for the players.

"Grantham Town FC has a long and proud history and is highly regarded as a club in Non-League circles, so, if you think you fit the bill to represent the club then come and attend the Open Day."

Grantham are particularly keen to recruit players for their existing U18s, new U16s and a combined new U15/U14 development squad. Players are also being sought for next season's U13s.
