Matlock boss believes side can make the play-offs

Matlock Town manager Martin Carruthers believes his side are capable of making the play-offs in the Pitching In NPL Premier Division.

The Gladiators host third-placed Bamber Bridge on Saturday, and it is a weekend where a lot of the play-off chasing pack are playing each other.

Gainsborough Trinity travel to Radcliffe and Hyde United also take on Marine.

There are only seven points between fourth and eighth in the league, and with games running out, every point could be crucial.

Talking about his side’s chances, Carruthers told the club website: “Looking at Saturday’s games, Radcliffe are at home to Gainsborough and Marine go to Hyde.

“Ideally we’ll be hoping for a Gainsborough win and a draw at Hyde, of course we’ll have to beat Bamber Bridge and then aim to win at Marine.

“There’s everything to play for and we need to now put in a massive effort to get where we want to be.”
