McGrath delight at new Sports recruits

John McGrath has expressed his delight at Mickleover Sports’ double signing from Kidsgrove Athletic.

The club website said Sports were “over the moon” to sign 20-year-old centre-half James Butler, who earned a move to Hartlepool United after impressing against them in the FA Cup.

A former Stoke youngster, he returned to Kidsgrove and has now made the move to the Don Amott Arena with team-mate Alex Morris.

Full-back Morris started out at Port Vale and has also played for Leek Town.

McGrath said: “I am delighted to get James to Mickleover. He is an exceptional talent and at only 20 years of age we have managed to sign a player that I believe has the ability to go on and become a full time professional.

“Alex is a young, energetic and athletic full back who fits in perfectly with our attacking style of play. Although and excellent footballer it’s his desire and work rate that makes him stand out from the rest.”
