McNally commits to coaching role

Former AFC Telford United and Hednesford Town boss Bernard McNally is back at EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Rushall Olympic as a first team coach only a few weeks after stepping down as assistant manager.

McNally, pictured, stood down two weeks before the start of the new season citing a change in work circumstances for leaving him unable to commit to the time and travelling involved in the EVO-STIK NPL's top flight.

McNally arrived at Dales Lane in June to work as number two to chairman and new manager John Allen who took the helm after the departure of former boss Richard Sneekes. He had promised to continue to be involved and club officials say he agreed to step up his involvement on the eve of the new season, slotting straight into Allen's touchline team alongside Trevor Burroughs, his successor as number two.

The 53-year-old former Northern Ireland midfielder kicked off his managerial career as AFC Telford's first boss and has also managed Newtown and Port Talbot Town as well as coaching Shrewsbury Town.

The delighted Pics backed McNally to have a major impact over the course of 2016-17 EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division campaign in a statement on their website confirming his new role.

The club said: "He will still be unable to travel to all games because of work but now is comfortable that he will be able to take on the club's coaching commitments and some scouting. As a UEFA Pro Licence FA Coach, his coaching prowess and experience will be invaluable in working with a new squad at the club."
