Monday's First Division South review

By David Watters

Fancied Basford United and Lincoln United shared the spoils for the second time in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division South on Monday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The sides shared a 1-1 draw at Greenwich Avenue, with the home side taking a 27th minute lead when Billy Bennett fired in a superbly struck free-kick from 20 yards beyond Mario Ziccardi.

Lincoln, re-built almost entirely in the summer by new boss Dave Frecklington, gradually came more into the game and Gary King levelled after 38 minutes.

As in the game wore on, Basford looked the more likely to score but the visitors were dangerous on the break, but a draw was probably just about right on the night.
