Watters has been providing media and results services to the NPL for nearly eight years since 2011. He enjoyed working closely with the competition’s 62 member clubs, collating, publishing and distributing match results to the media as well as generating news stories and content on a daily basis for the official website, social media channels; external local, regional and national media.
Although he is leaving to pursue new opportunities, the former newspaper editor and broadcaster is looking forward to working with the league on future media-related special projects.
“Dave has been responsible for developing close working relationships with, and contributed significantly to the NPL’s high profile in the non-league media” said league chairman Mark Harris. “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Dave for all his enthusiasm, hard work; wish him every success for the future and to express the hope that we will be working together again in the future.”
Watters said “I have loved every day working with all the people associated with the League from the board down to the fans and have to thank everybody for their support, energy and enthusiasm in helping to promote the competition.
“It really is a special league, the most forward-thinking and the best-run in the country as far as I am concerned so I am extremely proud to have played a small part in the continuing development and look forward to doing so again at the first opportunity in the future.”
An announcement will be made in due course about Dave’s successor.
