Midfielder reaches milestone century

Leek Town

Free-scoring midfielder Dan Shelley is celebrating a century of appearances for the EVO-STIK League's Leek Town.

The 23-year-old, pictured, reached his Blues milestone during Saturday's 2-2 draw at First Division South rivals Tividale in the FA Cup.

Shelley currently heads the club's goal-scoring charts this season and will be hoping to add to his seven strikes already when the sides meet again on Wednesday night at Harrison Park in their Second Qualifying Replay.

Shelley signed for Lee Casswell's Blues in September 2012 following his release by Crewe Alexandra. He made over 70 appearances in The Alex's first team over a four year spell after graduating from their academy.

After an excellent season, he was named in the EVO-STIK League's First Division South Team of the Year at the inaugural NPL Players of the Year Awards in Barnsley by guest of honour and World Cup referee Howard Webb. In all, he has now scored 25 goals in his century of appearances.
