Millers toast new sponsors

Carlton Town are celebrating with a pint or two this weekend courtesy of the Miller's new sponsors from the Flipside Brewery.

The Evo-Stik NPL First Division South club announced on Friday that the locally based Flipside Brewery had joined their team of commercial partners and would become the club's official supplier of Real Ale.

The deal, brokered by Chairman Mick Garton, also sees the brewery place a substantial advertising banner on the Terri Sheppard Arena.

The chairman said: "This partnership with Flipside is a major step forward for us and I truly welcome them to the Carlton Town family.

"I contacted Flipside prior to the Beer Festival and instantly hit it off with them so they have agreed to become sponsorship partners. I think the local connection was very important to them and I am delighted to welcome them on board as our first new partners of a new season."

The Flipside Brewery is owned and managed by the Dunkin family who are set to be officially welcomed and introduced to fans at the club's upcoming quiz night.

Brewery chief Andrew Dunkin was equally as upbeat about the new sponsorship partnership and revealed it was only a matter of time before it happened.

He said: "As a Carlton lad I’ve always been aware of Carlton Town Football Club and after we’d set up Flipside Brewery on Colwick Industrial Estate I had intended to get in touch as a local business.

"Of course, I never got round to it until Carlton Town’s first beer festival when Mick contacted us to see if we’d donate some beer. Of course we did and placed an advert in the programme.

"Dealing with Mick and other committee members was a pleasure and the idea of sponsoring the club on a more substantial basis gradually grew to the point where Flipside Brewery are now proud sponsors of Carlton Town Football Club."

Millers Chairman Garton hopes the Millers' hunt for new sponsors pay off again in the coming weeks as the club continues to recover from a devasting raid by thieves and vandals in August.

He added: "I'm hopeful of bringing two more new partners on board in the coming weeks with talks ongoing and I'm also working hard behind the scenes on the Christmas draw to secure some top, top prizes. Announcements will follow shortly."
