Mintcakes part company with manager

Kendal Town are looking for a new manager to lead their EVO-STIK League campaign after announcing that they’d parted company with David Foster on Wednesday morning.

The former Mintcakes striker, pictured, left the second from bottom First Division North club by mutual consent following a poor run of results, the latest coming on Saturday when they were beaten 3-2 at home by Mossley.

The 41-year-old, previously the club’s reserve team and assistant manager, took charge at The Northgate Vehicle Hire Stadium last December as the successor to Steve Edmondson. Officials say they expect to appoint his successor next week and have asked assistant manager Michael Stringfellow to act as caretaker manager.

In a statement announcing his departure, the club paid tribute to Foster who lives and teaches in Kirkby Lonsdale. "Kendal Town are sorry to announce that David Foster has stepped down as manager by mutual consent with immediate effect," said the club. "Kendal Town FC would like to pay tribute to David Foster’s hard work on and off the pitch as a player, coach and manager over an extended period.

"Michael Stringfellow has been appointed as caretaker manager with a view to making a permanent appointment later next week. Applications are invited from managers for this opportunity to take forward an experienced squad with a realistic budget at an ambitious, members led and community focused club. Ideally, the applicant will be experienced within the Northern Premier or North West Counties leagues."
