EVO-STIK League

Buxton are the new leaders of the EVO-STIK League's Premier Division after they beat King's Lynn Town 2-1 at The Walks on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Lynn were looking to move into the top four themselves but despite taking a 49th minute lead through Ross Watson, were beaten by goals from Shaun Tuton six minutes later and then Liam Hardy in the 69th minute.

Despite leading twice, fourth-placed Stourbridge had to settle for a point after Barwell conjured up a late equaliser at Kirkby Road.

Kayelden Brown gave the visiting Glassboys the lead on the half-hour mark. Jamie Hood eventually levelled for the Leicestershire outfit just past the hour. Brian Smikle restored Stourbridge`s lead with 11 minutes remaining, only for Sam Brooks to equalise five minutes from time.

FC United of Manchester slumped to a first defeat of the season with a 4-1 loss at a Frickley Athletic side who started the evening bottom of the table.

The Yorkshire side were victors, thanks to a terrific hat-trick by Gavin Allott. The Reds capitulated in spectacular style after a taking a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute through Mike Norton. The hosts equalised seven minutes later through an Allott thunderbolt from 25 yards before confirming victory in the second half by scoring three goals without reply through Allott in the 66th and 90th minutes and Sanchez Payne effort on 71 minutes.

Aaron Farrell made it two goals in two games as he helped Rushall Olympic to a 1-0 win away at The Meres against Grantham Town.

The only goal of the game came after 61 minutes. A Nathan Rooney corner was only half cleared and Farrell looped a header back over Grantham `keeper Danny Haystead.

Workington AFC are beginning to shake off the doom of relegation and moved up to seventh in the table after edging a five-goal encounter at Trafford.

Martyn Coleman gave the Reds a 20th minute lead that Simon Hackney cancelled out right on half-time. Adam Telfer restored the visitors` advantage in the 78thy minute, but Will Ahern looked to have salvaged a point for Trafford when he levelled with five minutes to go. But up popped Coleman with his second of the game to win it for the Reds in injury-time.

Marine AFC recorded back-to-back wins at the Arriva Stadium as they beat Ashton United 1-0 with a 37th minute Lewis Codling goal.

The diminutive front man capitalised on a moment's hesitation from Robins' keeper Josh Cook, nipping in to roll the ball across the line from just outside the area before a couple of defenders could get back to clear.

Ramsbottom United left it late before recording a best of five goal win at the Riverside against Witton Albion.

Albion led through Josh Hancock`s 18th minute effort right until seconds before the half-time whistle when Jordan Hulme equalised. Hancock put Witton back in front 11 minutes after the break and that looked like being the winner until Rammy battled back to win it with two goals in the final nine minutes from Cedric Krou and Hulme again.

Halesowen Town and Nantwich Town shared a 1-1 draw at The Grove. The Dabbers must have thought they`d won all three points as they led through Aaron Burns' 16th minute goal right until stoppage time at the end of the game when Joe Hull grabbed the Yeltz a late point.
