Monday's First Division North action review

By David Watters

Brighouse Town won the West Riding derby at home to fifth-placed Farsley Celtic to remain top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North table on Monday night.

Farsley took a 31st minute lead with a wonder-strike from Richard Marshall.

But 8 minutes into the second half, good work from Brighouse substitute Tom Haigh forced Farsley into conceding a Chris Howarth own goal equaliser.

Haigh then smashed home a rebound after Ruben Jerome's initial shot was parried out to him with 12 minutes remaining to make it 2-1.

A frenetic finish saw Farsley striker James Walshaw receive a straight red for appearing to strike out at an opponent as he lay on the floor following a foul.

The sending-off was out of context in an entertaining game that swung one way and another throughout in front of a decent crowd of 323.
