Curzon Ashton moved back to second spot in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division North table after a 2-0 win against Cammell Laird at the Tameside Stadium on Monday night.

Two accidents on the M60 meant Cammell Laird arrived late and kick-off was delayed until 8.20pm. For Nash fans it proved to be worth the wait.

Laird, boosted by their win on Saturday against high-flying Ramsbottom United, came to the Tameside Stadium hoping to catch Curzon on a low following only their second defeat of the season on Saturday at home to `bogey` team Ossett Town.

But Curzon meant business from the start and on 21 minutes Matty Warburton put them ahead with a great individual goal. Laird staged a comeback but after weathering the storm, Curzon grabbed their second a minute before half-time, Ryan Brooke pouncing on the loose ball in the box seconds after a tremendous shot from Warburton on 44 minutes, to poke home at the near post.

Curzon started the second half as they finished the first and despite Laird's best efforts, held on a for vital win to get themselves back on track.
