The only game in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Premier Division on Monday night saw Ilkeston FC host Stamford AFC at the New Manor Ground looking to move into the top five, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.
However, it ended instead with the visiting Daniels moving up to tenth spot themselves after a fine 2-1 victory.
In front of a decent crowd of 404, Stamford opened the scoring in the 11th minute when a foul on Ryan Robbins in the box resulted in a penalty being awarded that the victim converted himself. But the Robins were back on level terms within two minutes with a low effort from Che Adams.
And the Daniels re-took the lead – a lead they were to hold on to – in the 32nd minute when a ball across the box from Michael Built was finished well by Nabil Shariff.
