The Glassboys, comprehensively beaten 4-0 at Whitby Town on the opening day, hit four themselves as they edged out Nantwich Town, who had won 6-3 on Saturday, by the odd goal in seven at Amblecote.
Matt Bell put the visitors ahead on 15 minutes before the Glassboy`s star summer signing Karl Hawley's opportunist strike levelled the scores with 38 minutes played.
The visitors went ahead again four minutes after the break as Darren Thornton's lob deceived Charlie Price, only for Hawley to turn his man just inside the area and curl a shot home less than a minute later.
Matt Dodd put Stourbridge ahead from the penalty spot with 59 minutes played after he had been felled by Terry Smith in the Dabbers' goal, and Kayelden Brown rounded off some persistent work by Hawley, sliding a low shot under Smith on 68 minutes to put clear water between the Glassboys and their visitors.
But Nantwich ensured a nervy finish with a spot-kick of their own on 74 minutes, Matt Kosylo netting after Chris Knight had committed a foul as Stourbridge were caught out by a swift break.
