Some excellent finishing from the Glassboys was the main difference between the teams as they overcame mid-table Ashton United 4-1 at a very wet War Memorial Ground, extending their home unbeaten run in the league to nine matches.
Stourbridge got off to the best possible start on three minutes Kayelden Brown pounced from close range after Ashton `keeper Luke Pilling had parried Luke Benbow`s initial effort.
The home side doubled their lead on 32 minutes when a low cross from Ethan Jones was pushed away by the Ashton defence, only for Tom Tonks to fire home first time with a left-footed drive. Ten minutes later, and Stourbridge made it 3-0 with Jordan Archer running into the box to finish expertly with his right foot from an acute angle.
The second half began with Ashton pushing Stourbridge back and getting their reward on 53 minutes when player-manager Will Haining hit home on the volley following a corner. But on 71 minutes a 50-yard ball by Stuart Pierpoint was superbly volleyed home on the second bounce by Brown for his second of the evening.
