Monday's Premier Division review

By David Watters

Contrasting fortunes for hosts Stourbridge and visitors Hednesford Town on Monday night as the relegated Pitmen made it two wins from their opening two matches in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Premier Division, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

However, it was a second successive defeat for a Glassboys outfit who only just missed out on the play-offs.

But Liam McDonald`s new-look Pitmen left it very, very late.

A 94th minute goal from George Carline eventually gave them the win.

Carline volleyed in at the far post from Cohen Bramall's left wing cross to settle a game that provided good entertainment for the excellent crowd of 772 at the War Memorial Ground.

Kayelden Brown had tapped home Luke Benbow's low ball into the six-yard box on 17 minutes to put Stourbridge ahead, but the visitors grabbed a deserved equaliser with 33 minutes played through Tristan Dunkley's shot from 20 yards.

Hednesford held the upper hand for much of the first half, but it was the Glassboys who did most of the pressing after the break, only to be undone by Carline at the death.
