Ryan Rowe’s early fifth minute penalty, given for a trip on Matt Dodd, put Stourbridge ahead but they survived a scare midway through the half when Matt Gould dived to his left to save Ryan Robbins’ penalty. They then spurned a chance to double the advantage close to the break when Jordan Archer broke clear but shot over the bar.
Kyle Perry was close to putting Barwell in front when his attempted lob was only just off target and he made no mistake with his second chance from the spot 12 minutes into the second half to level things up.
Barwell`s Owen Story hit the post shortly afterwards and then Gould saved well from Tom Bates but it was Stour who found what turned out to be the winner after 73 minutes, the returning Tom Tonks – on as substitute – hurling in one of his trademark long throws for fellow sub Josh Cooke to hammer home.
Stuart Pierpoint was forced into a last-ditch tackle to deny ex-Glassboy Jake Heath three minutes from time as Stourbridge saw the game out to move up to second in the fledgling top flight table.
