After Hyde United took the shine off a milestone and a man-of-the-match performance with a 2-0 win in EVO-STIK League North at Stormy Corner at the weekend, the 30-year-old former York City, Crawley Town, Gateshead and Southport frontman is looking to start straight away by collecting three points with a home win on Tuesday night in his 501st appearance against Clitheroe.
The forward, who started out at Whickham and Newcastle Benfield and has also played on loan at Fleetwood Town, Grimsby Town, Hereford United and Morecambe, told the club’s website: “We need to win, the performance goes out of the window, whether it is by hook or by crook, we don’t care, just get the win is the message for us all.”
Reflecting on his milestone, the Conference winner and ex-England C star added: “It’s a great milestone to reach, not many have done that with so many being at the top tier of Non-League football, I pride myself in winning games rather than an individual performance. It is nice to have won the man-of-the-match, it shows I did okay but for me the aim has to be three points as a team rather than anything for myself.”
