Frickley beat Carlton Town 4-0 at Westfield Lane and, if second-placed Alvechurch slip up, could yet take second spot, now being three points behind the Worcestershire side, who possess two games in hand though.
Tyler Watson made the breakthrough with a goal four minutes before the break and six minutes after it, Tom Dugdale doubled the Blues lead. Jacob Hazel four minutes later and Jameel Ible 10 minutes from time sealed a comfortable win for Spencer Fearn's side.
Leek had a tougher test in the derby at Newcastle Town's Lyme Valley Stadium, winning by a goal five minutes from time from Sam Hall.
However, that defeat, coupled with bottom side Gresley FC picking up a point from a 2-2 Moat draw with Cleethorpes Town, mean Newcastle aren`t safe yet.
Oliver Bassett right on half-time gave the Moatmen the lead, but goals from Matt Bloomer 10 minutes after the break and Brody Robertson on 67 minutes took Clee ahead, with Courntey Meade equalising four minutes from time.
The Moatmen, who have only two games to play, are now a point behind second-bottom Market Drayton Town, who have six games remaining, with Castle three points better off with two matches to go.
Spalding United maintained their recent good form with a 2-0 derby win at Peterborough Sports, courtesy of Danny Brooks after 66 minutes and Luke White in stoppage time.
