The Moors are collecting for the Spennymoor Foodbank at Brewery Field ground every weekday between 11.30am and 1pm before a big push for donations when the Jason Ainsley's side host Malock Town in the EVO-STIK NPL's top flight on Saturday 10 December.
Organisers are appealing for festive items that can be distributed before the holiday season led by Christmas puddings, chocolates, biscuits and selection boxes for children. Fans are also being asked to donate other staples like tea, coffee, sugar and rice as part of the initiative to build on the club's growing success as a community hub following the opening of their own town center pub.
Mike Rowcroft, director of community and fan engagement, said: “Our aim is to place the club at the centre of the community. Anything we can do to help support the people of Spennymoor over the festive period can only be beneficial.
“We had the opening of the Moors Tavern earlier in the year, which we are building up into a community hub and this is one more step on that journey. We hope everyone can support this appeal."
