More to come from milestone man

Midfielder Dave MacPherson is three hundred not out at EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Leek Town.

The Blues stalwart, pictured, came on as a substitute in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Deeping Rangers in the FA Cup to make his 300th appearances in a Leek shirt and will hope to notch another when the sides meet again on Tuesday night in their First Qualifying Round replay.

Now 36, MacPherson originally moved to Harrison Park back in January 2001 from North West Counties League outfit Stone Dominoes after previously being on the books of Stoke City.

After establishing himself as a dynamic and energetic midfielder and being voted the supporters’ player of the year in 2002-03, he won two England caps with the England Futsal squad in Lithuania in 2005 and went on to make more than 250 appearances for the club.

On the way he scored 60 goals in seven seasons before finally moving on to Hednesford Town in May 2007.

After a brief return to Leek in 2008, MacPherson enjoyed two spells at Witton Albion and two at Nantwich Town along with a stint at Stafford Rangers and another at Hednesford Town before playing for Kidsgrove Athletic last season.

Congratulating him on joining a select group, a club spokesman said: "Macca may now be 36 but we are delighted to see him back at Harrison Park and are sure there are still a quite a few more appearances in those legs yet!"

With the First Division South club running free coaches to their United Counties League opponents for the midweek First Qualifying Round replay and away to Romulus on Sunday 20 September, Blues officials are also hoping MacPherson will add to his tally in front of a big away following.
