Morpeth Town announce double signing

Steels joins from NPL East Division side Shildon. The 21-year-old has previously represented York City, Sunderland and Burnley.

The winger revealed his ambitions, and wants to be the best player, no matter what level he is at.

“I was tempted by Morpeth because of my ambition to play as high as possible and believe Morpeth’s pitch suits me down to the ground with being a big 3G surface,” he said.

“My ambition is to play as high as possible and aim to be the best player in my position in any league I’m playing in.

“Life in professional clubs has taught me plenty, but it has mainly taught me to work as hard as I can to improve and express myself to play at the level I know I’m capable of.”

Meanwhile, Barlow joins from National League side Blyth Spartans.

The forward was with Sunderland and Scunthorpe United as a youngster, and represented England at Under-18 level.

After that, he won a scholarship to go and play in America, and returned to the UK and Blyth last year.

The forward believes the style of play will suit him, and he hopes for success.

“After speaking to Callum (Morris, Sporting Operations Manager) and Lynchy, the ambition they’ve got for the club, the set-up they have here, you can see how great it is and the style of football they want to play suits me,” he added.

“Just having conversations with them, they want to do the right things and I’ll be able to develop here even more, help the team and get those three points every Saturday.

“Now I’m at Morpeth – I’m buzzing to be here and to get started.”
