Nailers aim to maximise return

Nailers assistant manager Mick Godber insists Belper Town won't be happy with anything but a win from Tuesday night's play-off spot six pointer at Halesowen Town in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

The fifth-place Nailers can pull four points clear of the Yeltz in the final play-off position and close within a point of fourth placed Sutton Coldfield with a game in hand on the Royals after Jon Froggatt stroked home a free-kick deep into injury time on Saturday to grab a last gasp equaliser in the 2-2 draw at Kidsgrove Athletic.

Second placed Stamford arrive at Christchurch Meadow in another key Evo-Stik NPL First Division South fixture this weekend and Godber said: "We've got two very important games coming up and if we can win those it will put us in a great position. We are going to Halesowen with the intention of getting three points and we feel that we can go there and do it."

Godber admits manager Peter Duffield's side under-performed at the Seddon Stadium a week after beating them 5-1 at home in the reverse fixture but insists they showed enough promise to have still won the game after mounting their second half comeback.

Peter Duffield's assistant manager, who also praised the part played by supporters in rescuing a vital point, said: "The first half was as probably as poor as we've played for a long time, but we did manage to turn things around in the second half. We went looking for three points but they were still smarting from the previous Saturday's defeat and were up for revenge, and they did work very hard, particularly in the first half.

"We would have taken a point before kick-off but in the end we thought we did enough to deserve all three because we had the better chances. When supporters get behind their team like they did on Saturday, it gives the players a huge boost and it was very much appreciated."
