The young winger has agreed a deal with Trinity, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2023/24 season.
Preston, 23, started his career within Sheffield Wednesday’s youth setup before he made his Championship debut in a 2-0 defeat to Brentford.
He then made his move to non-league football, signing for Boston United in 2020 before putting pen to paper with Alfreton in July of this year.
Holy Blues manager Neal Bishop spoke to the club’s official site on the signing of Preston, he said: “Fraser is someone we identified to be a really good fit for us.
“If you look at the profile and age of this group, then he certainly fits into that bracket. He’s someone who I believe can kick on in his career.
"We believe we can provide a platform for him to get that confidence back and get him loving playing football again.
“We have lost a couple of forward players, but it was important we took our time and did our due diligence on any potential signings.”
Preston is set to make his debut for Trinity later this evening as they travel to the Weaver Stadium for their Northern Premier League fixture against Nantwich.
In addition to the signing, the club have announced that midfielder Fin Shrimpton has agreed a deal to extend his loan for another month.
