Neighbours invited to play-off party

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Basford United are looking to local football supporters to boost their drive for a play-off place.

With neighbours Nottingham Forest having no game this weekend and fourth-placed Basford hoping to nail down their play-off berth on Saturday, officials say season ticket holders from the Championship giants can watch their 3pm clash at Greenwich Avenue for just £3.

Basford boss Martin Carruthers has warned his players that they cannot afford to take anything for granted despite the club's efforts to boost the gate for the First Division South fixture.

He said: "What we have achieved so far this season has been tremendous and a credit to the hard work of everyone. We cannot afford to relax our standards, as we will be punished. We need to play to our limit to get us over the line."
