Danns, who only signed a new contract last month, will leave the Silkmen to take up a full-time assistant managerial role with League Two side Tranmere Rovers.
He first made moves into coaching at the club in December 2022 on an interim basis, replacing former incumbent Dave McNabb.
A positive start to his time at the club saw Danny take on the role permanently, and he would go on to steer the Silkmen to the Pitching In NPL West Division title.
Now he will move onto pastures new, at a Tranmere side where he made 18 appearances during his playing days.
Danns will be replaced at Macclesfield by his former assistant, Mark Duffy, on a deal until the end of the 2023/24 season.
On his departure, director of football Robbie Savage said: "I would like to wish Neil all the best with the opportunity that has arisen at Tranmere.
"We believe we have given Neil an amazing opportunity to kickstart his career in coaching at Macclesfield, already a side of sizeable stature in non-league, which he has handled impressively and bodes well for the future.
"Dannzy is someone we would rather not lose, both as a player and head coach. But ultimately, this was his decision.
"This, coupled with Tranmere being a club close to his heart, I can't deny him the chance to be a part of it once again."
