New book charting centenary is out!

Atherton Collieries are looking forward to the official launch of a new book charting the club's centenary season and promotion to the EVO-STIK League.

A limited edition of one hundred copies of The Centenary Season Review went on sale on Wednesday ahead of the book's official launch at Alder Street on Saturday 25 November when they host Radcliffe Borough in EVO-STIK League North.

Priced at £10 per and filled with more than 200 pages of match reports, league tables, photographs and statistics covering the club's North West Counties League Premier Division championship winning campaign, the book covers every kick of a ball from pre-season fixtures against Bolton Wanderers and Curzon Ashton to historic wins over Shildon and Abbey Hey to win promotion.

The club's media team and other contributors were thanked by the Colls in a statement announcing the sale of pre-ordered copies of the book which also includes exclusive guest articles discussing the highs and lows of the historic season with supporters, players, coaches and even a few neutrals.

The Colls said: "Coming in at over 200 pages of content and almost 60,000 words, we hope that the book is a comprehensive souvenir of one of our greatest seasons! Pre-ordered copies will be available for collection when we face Brighouse away on Saturday 18th November or at our home match against Skelmersdale on Monday 20th.

"Following this, we will organise a full “launch” event on Saturday 25th when we face Radcliffe Borough, with players available before and after the match to sign supporters’ copies. Details of this launch will be made available nearer the time via our social media platforms.

"The Centenary Season Review has been produced primarily by a team consisting of media officers Rob Clarke and Joseph Gibbons, with hefty contributions from club secretary Emil Anderson and photographers Dave Featherstone and Ian Monk. We would also like to thank the countless others whose efforts have also been included, whom have also been invaluable for the project."

The club added: "The book has been printed at a limited run of 100 copies, to commemorate both our centenary year and our final points tally, so be sure to pick up your copy before it’s too late. We hope the finished product is something that you all enjoy!"
