New investors and boss at Blues

Spencer Fearn has been unveiled as the new manager of EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Frickley Athletic.

The ex-Maltby Main boss and qualified UEFA B coach was named on Tuesday as the new Blues boss and successor to Karl Rose following the club's relegation from the EVO-STIK NPL's top flight.

Fearn will be assisted Dan Mills as a first team scout and newly appointed assistant manager John Stancliff, a key member of his coaching team at Main.

Fearn's appointment follows the club's announcement that the North of England Football Academy are teaming up with the Blues as new investors with their chief executive, Ryan McKnight, joining the board at Westfield Lane.

Former Stockport County chief executive and FC Business editor McKnight told the club's website: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to work with the excellent volunteers. I also look forward to working with the directors at Frickley to help improve the club's fortunes.

"The funds we are investing will see stability for the club in the short-term. However, to turn that into a long term success we will need the support of the local community. Local businesses and of course supporters, old and new. We invite anyone wanting to help to get in touch by e-mailing ryan@nefa.co.uk.”

In a statement released by the club confirming the shake-up, Frickley Athletic's outgoing chairman Gareth Dando said: “We’d like to welcome Spencer, Ryan and their team to the club and wish them every success in the future."
