EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Stamford AFC are building a memorial wall and garden at their new home at the Borderville Sports Centre with the support of their local council and businesses.

As the Premier Division club's officials make final preparations to move into their new stadium, they announced that Stamford Town Council had donated £400 towards the cost of a memorial wall and garden for their fans at their new home at the Borderville Sports Centre.

The local authority supported the club's initiative and contributed towards the cost of providing a mature olive tree and commemorative plaques to be installed on a memorial wall following a presentation from SAFC's commercial manager Paul Pepper last month. He told officials that a number of supporters had their ashes scattered at their old Kettering Road ground and as a mark of respect, the club wished to acknowledge the deceased by continuing with a similar commemorative area at their new home.

After hearing about the project, Stamford Referees Association, who use the club's facilities, kindly handed over a further £150 and a number of other local businesses including Villaggio Verde, who donated the trees and local hardware story Harrison and Dunn who are sponsoring the council's plaque and handling orders, also contributed.

SRA chairman Peter Chappell, who is pictured alongside Pepper, the SRA's Trevor Mitchell, Mayoress Mrs Pamela Walden, Paul Collins from Harrison and Dunn and Mayor Councillor Mr Clem Walden, said: "We are proud to be associated with this thoughtful idea to remember loved ones who supported The Daniels over the years."
