New number two installed after Rudd's exit

Salford City's first team coach Dave Chadwick was named on Thursday night as the new assistant manager at the EVO-STIK League club following the departure of Stuart Rudd.

Rudd returned to Moor Lane in November 2013 to assist then joint managers Phil Power and Barry Massay before stepping up to become Power's assistant manager last term following Massey's departure.

A member of the First Division North club's 'Greatest Escape' side of 2009-09 when his goals helped ensure a dramatic escape from what had seemed inevitable relegation back to the North West Counties League, Rudd left as part of a review of the coaching structure.

As a player Rudd kicked off his career at Wigan Athletic before moving to clubs including Daisy Hill, Skelmersdale United, Burscough, Bradford Park Avenue, Guiseley, Rhyl, Salford City, FC United of Manchester, pictured, and Stockport Sports where he was player manager.

The 38-year-old was thanked for his time at the club by Ammies officials in a statement on their website announcing his departure.

The club said: "The club would like to record its appreciation of Stuart's contribution over the past twelve months and we wish him the best of luck for the future. His goal at Prescot Cables in April meant that he had been on the score-sheet for every one of the last nineteen seasons at semi-professional level - a remarkable feat."

Chadwick was appointed as player coach in November 2013 a decade after leaving the club. A vastly experienced central defender, he moved on to Prescot Cables and then FC United of Manchester, making more than 200 appearances for the Rebels prior to stints with New Mills and Stockport Sports.
