Warrington prepare for worldwide audience

Warrington Town

Expect to see plenty of Warrington Town manager Shaun Reid and his players in the media today as they prepare for the biggest game in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League club's history.

Before kicking off in the FA Cup's First Round against League Two Exeter City in front the BBC's cameras and a sell-out crowd of 2,500 at 8pm, the Wire are hosting a noon press conference at their Winner Recruitment Stadium.

Reid, chairman Toby Macormac, captain David Mannix and a selection of players are set to quizzed by the world's media on their hopes for the historic game, the first time in the club's 65 year history that Warrington have made the First Round Proper.

To get there, Reid's men won five qualifying rounds over seven games including two replays and as giant-killers defeated three teams from higher divisions – Trafford, Colwyn Bay and North Ferriby United.

To help ease traffic congestion for their local community, officials also announced on Thursday that a special free park and ride would be operating between Priestly College and the ground from 6pm until 7.35pm.

Network Warrington will be running the shuttle service every 15 minutes and after the game from 10pm to 10.30pm. Officials are urging supporters to avoid trying to park near to the ground as nearby residential roads will be coned off and there is no public parking in or around the ground. Free parking is available at Priestly.
