New Prescot Cables boss named

Steven Daley has been unveiled as the new manager of Prescot Cables.

Daley was initially appointed on an interim basis after former boss Kevin Lynch stepped down following Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Newcastle Town due to personal reasons.

Daley's first game in charge of the Pitching In NPL West Division side will come at home to second-bottom Widnes on Tuesday night.

On the appointment, he said: “I would like to thank the club for having the trust in me to take the job.

"This is a football club at the heart of the community, and myself, Peter [Cuminsky, assistant manager] and the players know how much it means to everyone.

“While I'm in charge, we will all give 100% to produce a football team to make you all proud. I'm honoured to have been given this opportunity."

Tony Zeverona, Prescot Cables chairman, said: “I'm delighted that Ste has accepted the role as first team manager. We wanted a smooth transition following the departure of Kevin Lynch and this is it.

“Given where we are both in terms of league position and remaining time in the season, this appointment made total sense to everyone involved in the discussions.

“Ste is a brilliant coach and man manager. We as a board have been impressed with the way he conducts himself both on a matchday but also in terms of the quality of the coaching sessions he puts on.

“I know that he will get nothing short of 100% buy-in from the squad and in turn the fans as we seek to finish the season strongly.”
