New strikers on board to boost options up front

Hot-shots Lee Gaskell and Steven Tames could be leading the line for Warrington Town at Salford City in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League on Tuesday night after the First Division North club announced a double swoop for the strikers.

Wire manager Shaun Reid strengthened his striking options ahead of the First Division North clash with the arrival of Gaskell, pictured, from Ramsbottom United and former Prescot Cables frontman Tames from Conference North Hyde United.

Gaskell, 29, spent seven years at Bury before moving to Morcambe. At Rammy last season, he was the EVO-STIK NPL First Division North 'golden boot' award winner, finishing top scorer with 29 goals as the team won promotion via the play-offs.

Tames, 22, switched to Hyde this term after starring with Vauxhall Motors last season, scoring 11 goals in twenty-five games, including three in his last four appearances for the now demoted club.

Warrington chairman Toby Macormac said: "We were looking to strengthen our attacking options in the squad and when we heard these players were available we worked tirelessly behind the scenes to secure their services.

"Shaun Reid knows plenty about Tames having managed him earlier in his career and our club has been on the receiving end of Gaskell’s scoring prowess."

He added: "Shaun admires both of these players and I’m certain his choices will reap the benefits for the club as we look to progress up the table."
