New tenants secured at Coles Lane

Paget Rangers are getting ready to move in with EVO-STIK League Sutton Coldfield Town next season.

The Royals - who've been looking for new tenants since EVO-STIK League South Romulus announced they were leaving Coles Lane at the end of the season in January - are looking forward to the Midland League Division One club re-locating from Boldmere St Michaels for the start of the 2018-19 campaign.

Long-time groundsharers Romulus are moving to their own stadium at Castle Vale and Sutton Coldfield chairman Nick Thurston welcomed the Bears to the EVO-STIK League Premier Division club's home on Tuesday in a statement on the Royals website and social media channels.

Groundshare agreements are subject to approval by the Football Association and Northern Premier League and Thurston told fans he was delighted to have secured new tenants so quickly.

He said: “We are very pleased to secure a new arrangement for Paget to come back to Coles Lane. As soon as Romulus announced their move to Castle Vale, it was important for us to move quickly and find a replacement so that we continued to enjoy senior football at Coles Lane every week.

"We met with [chairman] Matt Dainty and his colleagues at Paget and we were impressed with their professionalism and ambition to continue to grow their club and work their way up the football pyramid. The deal was agreed, and we look forward to seeing them in action on the 3g here at Coles Lane."

Paget Rangers are seeing out the 2017-18 season at Boldmere and Dainty believes the chance to move in at the home of the Royals was "too good to miss out on" and will help the club achieve its "long-term ambitions".

Dainty said: “We are delighted to have agreed a groundshare arrangement for Paget Rangers at Coles Lane for the 2018-19 season onwards. After meeting with Nick Thurston, it was clear that a move to the home of the Royals was one too good to miss out on.

"We firmly believe that by playing from Coles Lane we will be able to achieve our long-term ambitions and to continue to grow the club. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all at Boldmere St. Michaels for being fantastic hosts to Paget Rangers over the past five years."
