Frickley Athletic manager Karl Rose has made three new signings as he bids to shore up his side's defence.

The Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Blues are set to defy the snow and ice on Saturday to play at AFC Fylde and on Friday Rose brought in keeper Jamie Green from Brigg Town, right-back Joe Wilcox from Ilkeston FC and defender Gareth Clayton from Sheffield FC.

It will be 24-year-old Green's second spell at the Premier Division club having previously played for Frickley in 2006-07. Since then he's played for AFC Emley, Armthorpe Welfare and Brigg.

Wilcox, 23, is the son of former Blues’ favourite Russ Wilcox. He started out at Scunthorpe United before going out on loan to Rushden & Diamonds. He then moved on to Buxton, Armthorpe Welfare and finally Ilkeston in August 2011.

Clayton, 27, was with Scarborough Athletic at the beginning of the season and has also played in Belgium for RRFC Montegnee.
