NPL preview | August bank holiday double-header

It all starts on Saturday, with a full round of fixtures set to take place. That will be followed by another complete set of fixtures on bank holiday Monday, August 28.

Radcliffe - the only side to have won each of their opening four league fixtures - are on the road at Marske United, who have picked up just three points from a possible 12 so far in 2023/24.

Elsewhere, Macclesfield will look to recover from their 3-0 defeat at Lancaster City in midweek with another game on their travels, this time at FC United of Manchester.

The Reds will come into the game in confident mood, having returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win at home to Ilkeston Town on Tuesday night.

Two of last season's play-off contenders, Gainsborough Trinity and Bamber Bridge will do battle at the Northolme as both go in search of their second win of the season.

Meanwhile, Marine and Matlock Town - two of the sides who recruited heavily during the off-season - will look to climb the table after indifferent starts to the campaign.

Each of the 22 Northern Premier League teams will then take to the field again on Monday afternoon, for their second game in the space of 48 hours.

Stand-out ties include a meeting between in-form duo Ilkeston Town and Whitby Town, and FC United of Manchester's short trip to neighbours Radcliffe.

All fixtures from the opening gameweek of the August double-header will take place on Saturday 26 August at 3pm, unless stated otherwise.

Games from the second part of the double-header will then take place on Monday 28 August at 3pm, unless stated otherwise.
