NPL round-up | Saturday 26 August

In-form Radcliffe strengthened their grip on top spot in the Northern Premier League after an emphatic 5-2 win at Marske United on Saturday.

Free-scoring Boro made it five wins in a row and moved as many points clear at the top of the division, with Anthony Dudley and Scott Duxbury both scoring twice as they came from behind to win convincingly on the Yorkshire Coast.

Behind them, Warrington Rylands climbed to second after a 2-0 win at home to Morpeth Town.

Late goals from Adama Sidibeh and Edy Maieco sealed the points for the Blues, who have now won three of their last four matches - all by a 2-0 margin.

Ilkeston Town remain third, despite being beaten heavily at Bradford Park Avenue.

Will Longbottom scored twice for Avenue as they ran out 4-1 winners and inflicted a second successive defeat on the Robins in the process.

Another of the Northern Premier League's early-season pace-setters, Macclesfield, fell to a late 2-1 defeat at FC United of Manchester.

An 89th minute penalty from Luke Griffiths proved to be the winner at Broadhurst Park, with FC United twice taking the lead in the game after Alex Curran had cancelled out Max Cane's opener midway through the first half.

Elsewhere, Whitby Town were beaten 3-1 at home by Ashton United.

A Marcus Cusani double, either side of Sean Newton's 58th minute goal, helped the Robins bounce back at the first attempt following their midweek defeat at Warrington Rylands.

In contrast, Lancaster City capped off a fine few days by coming from two goals down to clinch a point against Guiseley.

Charlie Bailey's equaliser six minutes from time means the Dolly Blues sit six points off top spot, having also toppled Macclesfield on Tuesday night.

Fin Sinclair-Smith was on target for Marine as they beat Matlock Town 2-0, while Worksop Town fell to a 3-1 defeat at Hyde United.

In the battle of two of last season's beaten play-off contenders, Gainsborough Trinity and Bamber Bridge played out a 1-1 draw at the Northolme.

Further down the division, Basford United were denied their first win of the season in stoppage time as Josh Solomon-Davies fired home and made an impact from the bench for Atherton Collieries, who rescued a 1-1 draw.

Finally, Workington ended a three-game winless run as David Symington's second half double helped them overcome Stafford Rangers 2-1 at Borough Park.
