N/West round-up: Reds loss leaves Marske as only unbeaten side

By James Gordon

Workington suffered their first defeat of the season, but remain top of the BetVictor Northern Premier N/West Division.

First half goals from James Baillie and Adam Morgan fired Mossley to a 2-0 win, that keeps them on the cusp of the play-offs.

Workington’s defeat leaves Marske United as the only unbeaten team in the league - though they slipped to fifth with a 1-1 draw at Trafford.

Andrew Stephenson put the north east side ahead on 67 minutes, only for Lewis Salmon to snatch a point for the hosts in the final minute.

There was an astonishing finish at Clitheroe, as three goals were scored in injury time as the hosts drew 4-4 with Runcorn Linnets.

Clitheroe had led 3-1 at half time, Charlie Russell and Owen Watkinson (2) turning thijgns round after Paul Shanley’s opener.

Linnets pulled a goal back with four minutes to play and then sensationally thought they’d snatched a win when Kurt Sherlock scored twice in injury time, only for Terry Cummings to rescue the points for the hosts.

Kendal Town picked up their first win of the season to send Pickering Town to the bottom of the table.

Emil Jaaskelainen, Nathan Cloudsdale and Patrick Allington sent the Mintcakes to a 3-1 win, their first win in nine attempts.

Ossett United and Ramsbottom United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, both goals coming in the first half, while James Edgar’s fourth minute strike was enough to see Prescot Cables past Dunston.

Marine suffered defeat at the hands of Tadcaster Albion, Kenny Strickland’s first half goal cancelled out by Donald Chimalilo and Jake Day.

Pontefract Collieries’ promising start to the season continued with a 4-1 win at Droylsden.

Daniel Wilkins gave the Bloods a sixth minute lead, but goals either side of the break from Gavin Rothery and Sam Agar turned things around, before Vaughan Redford’s late brace made sure.

Michael Grogan’s brace fired Widnes to a 3-2 win at Colne, in a game delayed due to an injury to the referee.

Sefton Gonzales gave Colne the lead in the opening minute, with Danny Shaw equalising on 65 minutes.

Brighouse Town won for only the second time this season, beating City of Liverpool 2-1.
