Popular guide steps up coverage

Leek Town fans are snapping up a handy new 'pocket guide' to the club's EVO-STIK Northern Premier League campaign.

For the second season running, fan-turned author Paul Buxton has published his EVO-STIK NPL First Division South Season Preview to help raise funds for improvements to Harrison Park. Last season, the 33-year-old father of two raised more than £100 and this year is also donating £1 of the £3 cover price to Prostate Cancer UK with the balance going to the Blues.

Packed full of stats, facts, fixtures and player profiles, this season's invaluable 'everything you need to know' guide is less about the Blues and more about their opponents with Buxton hoping the shift in focus will appeal to fans at all 22 clubs in the division who can order an online PDF version as well as paper copies for delivery.

Buxton said: "I did the same last summer and managed to raise £100. This year I have made the booklet less about Leek Town and more general in the hope that it appeals to fans of all clubs."

After bringing out the guide last week in time for the big kick off to the new season, the author, a technical publications manager and a Blues supporter for the last 25 years, sold his first matchday copies at Harrison Park on Tuesday night when the Staffordshire club beat Market Drayton Town 3-2 to open their account at home with a victory.

The booklet will be on sale when the Blues host Newcastle Town in the FA Cup's Preliminary Round on Saturday and copies can be purchased by sending payment on PayPal to pmbuxton@hotmail.com. Email or home address details should be included depending on the format required.
