By James Gordon

Buxton have doubled their lead at the top of the Premier Division with a 3-0 victory over Ashton United at the Silverlands stadium.

Jamie Ward opened the scoring 19 minutes in, before Thomas Elliot doubled their lead 14 minutes later sending Buxton into half-time in control of the game.

Buxton topped off their performance with a third goal 15 minutes from full-time, with Dom Tear scoring in front of a crowd of 458.

Elsewhere in the league, Bamber Bridge dropped to third following their 2-0 defeat to Scarborough Athletic - with Luca Colville’s second-half brace claiming all three points for the Seadogs.

With Bamber Bridge’s defeat, Matlock Town’s victory at Stalybridge Celtic means that they leapfrog into second place, just two points behind Buxton.

Whitby Town’s 4-2 victory over Mickleover, and Warrington Town’s 1-1 draw away at Gainsborough Trinity means that Whitby are now level on points with the Yellows for a play-off position.

Hyde United continued their good run of form, coming from behind at South Shields to win 2-1, thanks to two first-half goals from Jonah Mitchell and Liam Tongue which moved them four points clear of the bottom three.

FC United of Manchester claimed a 2-0 away victory at Stafford Rangers, with Alistair Waddecar scoring a second-half brace.

Radcliffe's Bobby Grant now sits at the top of the goal-scorers charts with 13, scoring twice in their 3-2 victory over Nantwich Town. Callum Gribbin scoring the third.
