Premier Division round-up: Gainsborough denied by late leveller

By James Gordon

There was late drama on Tuesday night as Gainsborough Trinity missed the chance to move top of the Northern Premier league.

Trinity knew that a win away at Nantwich Town would see them climb above current league leaders Hyde United, and they were well on the way to doing that when Clayton Donaldson scored from the penalty spot two minutes from time.

However, the Dabbers struck back in second half stoppage time as Harry Nevin lashed home following a half-cleared corner.

The result sees Nantwich extend their unbeaten run to four matches in all competitions and jump above Whitby Town into 19th in the league table.

Trinity, meanwhile, stay one point adrift of Hyde ahead of Saturday’s trip to FC United of Manchester.
