Premier Division round-up: Liversedge win big as Warrington clubs enjoy mixed fortunes

By James Gordon

Warrington Town climbed to second in the Northern Premier League with an emphatic 4-0 victory at Morpeth Town on Tuesday night.

The Yellows are currently on a club-record 18 unbeaten run in the league, and their latest victory came courtesy of second half goals from Dec Walker, Evan Gumbs and Josh Amis, adding to Connor Woods’ 41st minute opener - his first since returning to the club on a permanent basis.

They are 12 points adrift of league leaders South Shields with a game in hand, while Morpeth remain just two points above the relegation places.

At Mount Pleasant, Marske United boosted their survival hopes with a 2-0 win over Warrington Rylands.

It took less than a minute for Junior Mondal to open the scoring, and top scorer Adam Boyes doubled their advantage before half-time as the Seasiders climbed to 19th in the Northern Premier League table.

The night’s only other match took place at the Skuna Stadium, with Liversedge running out impressive 4-0 winners against Atherton Collieries.

Joe Walton, Nathan Cartman, Jack Stockdill and Rob Guilfoyle struck for Sedge, who are four points from safety but have played less games than many of their closest rivals.
