Evo-Stik Northern Premier League midfielder Neil Prince is returning to the dugout next season as manager of Prescot Cables.

The 31-year-old, pictured, finished the campaign at Skelmersdale United and was unveiled by delighted officials at Valerie Park on Wednesday as the successor to Dave Powell who stood down at the end of the season after two seasons at the helm.

Prince, who was at Liverpool as a youth, played professionally at Torquay United. After returning to the North West, he went on to play in the Conference North for Stalybridge, Hyde, Southport, Marine, Droylsden and Vauxhall Motors.

He’s back in management after spending a very successful period as player-manager at Bootle from June 2012, leading the club to their first Liverpool Senior Cup win in over 100 years and to within two points of the North West Counties League title. After leaving Bootle last season he switched to Tommy Lawson’s Skem just before Christmas.

Prince, brings a reputation for attacking football and professionalism to the Cables job and will be assisted by Neil Black, the former Marine and Colwyn Bay striker and Neil Murphy, the former Blackpool and Marine defender.

Prescot Cables Chairman Tony Zeverona said: "We are delighted to welcome Neil to Cables along with his assistants. They bring with them a wealth of Non-League experience and are all still able to make a contribution on the pitch.

"Neil is an ambitious young manager who impressed us with his man management skills, his commitment to attacking football and his intention to bring in young and hungry local players. We are confident that he will bring success to our club."
