Ravens are reunited at champions

By David Watters

Former Coalville Town number two Mark Harvey has been reunited with Tommy Brookbanks at EVO-STIK League South champions Basford United.

Brookbanks, who stood down at the Ravens at the end of last season after his side's Integro League Cup Final loss before being appointed as United's vice-chairman in May, was reunited with Harvey, pictured, on Wednesday when he was named as a new club executive at Greenwich Avenue.

Brookbanks believes Harvey will put his 20 years of managerial and coaching experience to good use in his new role and is also looking forward to seeing his former assistant training the new EVO-STIK League Premier Division club's keepers at both youth and senior level.

Brookbanks said: "It's great to have Mark on board with us at Basford. He’s been a superb assistant to me over the years and his long experience in football and his experience behind the scenes will be invaluable to us."

He added: "Tom believes it also goes to show how far the club is going both on and off the pitch. Both myself and chairman Chris Munroe are delighted with the appointment and it’s another important cog in our backroom team which is going from strength to strength."

As club executive, Harvey will look to assist Munroe while working to improve facilities around the Nottinghamshire club's home for the upcoming 2018-19 campaign. After hanging up his boots as a player and 12 years working alongside Brookbanks, Harvey reckons he is ready for a new type of challenge in the game.

He told the club's website: "A quick chat with the chairman shows that his ambition is to go where the club wants to go but also where I want to go myself ... it's just the overall feel of the place."
