Reds pass muster for promotion

By David Watters

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Workington have brought their home up to scratch to pass their ground-grading for promotion.

The Reds retained their National League System B Grading from the Football Association for Borough Park on Monday after completing a list of works recommended by inspectors following their last visit to the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division club.

To meet the March 31 deadline to retain the right to play at Level 2 of the National League System, volunteers, officials and contractors made a number of repairs and improvements including installing extra seating in the directors’ and press box area, extra perimeter fencing, additional signage and laying a new path from the Town End turnstiles to the terraces, pictured.

With David Hewson's side just a point and place off the promotion-play-off spots, other jobs to ensure they are ready to go up included the removal of old floodlight bases and ensuring the Derwent End toilets are functional after recent vandalism.
