Football Association Respect & Fair Play Awards 2014-15

The EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's proud reputation as one of the best behaved competitions in Non-League was on show again at Wembley on Sunday before Arsenal beat Chelsea 1-0 in the FA Community Shield.

Before the traditional curtain-raiser to the new season kicked off, the EVO-STIK NPL was honoured for doing the double for the fifth time in six years at the Football Association’s 2014-15 Respect and Fair Play Awards.

As well as winning the FA's National League System Steps 1-4 League Respect and Fair Play Award for the fifth time since the annual Respect accolades were launched, Premier Division play-off winners Curzon Ashton continued the league's stranglehold on the individual club category when they scooped the coveted title as the best behaved side in the country.

The EVO-STIK NPL's Respect manager Phil Bradley and operations manager Alan Allcock are pictured in the stands at Wembley flanked by Curzon Ashton manager John Flanagan, left, and his number two Ian Nevison.

According to the FA, Curzon were worthy successors to the EVO-STIK NPL's previous winners of their club award - Garforth Town, Lancaster City, AFC Fylde, Nantwich Town and Skelmersdale United last season.

An FA spokesman said: "A total of two dissent cautions in two seasons is very impressive. Curzon achieved this against a backdrop of continuous pressure on the players as they won the First Division North title in 2013-14 and finished as play-off winners for promotion to the Football Conference."
