Charities can bank on another summer windfall

By David Watters

The British Heart Foundation and East Midlands Ambulance Service can expect another bumper donation after Sunday's third annual DW Trophy match at former EVO-STIK Northern Premier League club Shepshed Dynamo.

After last season's fixture at the Midland League club's Dovecote Stadium saw the DW Charity Fund's designated charities collect cheques for £500 each, they can look forward to another windfall with a Shepshed Dynamo XI taking on an All Star XI managed by former Leicester City forward Alan Young in a 2pm kick off.

Backed by the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League since it was first played in 2013, the DW Trophy Charity Fund was set up to honour the former Shepshed Dynamo FC director and secretary Dave Wheatley by his son Craig Wheatley. The popular Non-League veteran passed away unexpectedly in July 2011 and made many friends throughout Non-League as Shepshed Dynamo’s groundsman, secretary and director.
