Robins chairman steps down

Ashton United Chairman David Aspinall stood down from his post at the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Robins on Monday night.

In a lunchtime statement on Tuesday, the Premier Division club announced that Aspinall, pictured, tendered his resignation at a meeting of their Board on Monday night.

CEO Terry Hollis has been appointed Acting Chairman at Hurst Cross and the club say a further statement will be made in due course.
