Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Brigg Town are looking for a new manager after parting company with Mick Gray on Tuesday.

Gray, pictured, tendered his resignation at the First Division South’s Zebras after 20 months at the helm and a total of three years at the Hawthorns following his previous stint as assistant manager to Pete Daniel.

His last game in charge saw the fourth from bottom Zebras beaten 2-1 at home last Saturday by Newcastle Town. Senior players Michael Jacklin, Scott Hellewell and Paul Grimes have been placed in temporary charge and will pick the team for Saturday's crucial six pointer at basement side Bedworth United. Hellewell and Grimes already manage Brigg Town's U19s side.

In a statement released on Tuesday night the club paid tribute to Gray and confirmed that the hunt was now on to find his successor as they embark on a crucial series of matches in the run-up to Christmas.

Brigg Town spokesman Matt Jones said: "Manager Mick Gray informed the Brigg Town Committee of his decision to resign as manager. The Chairman and Committee would like to thank Mick for the hard work and effort he has given to the club in his three years at the Hawthorns.

"Brigg Town are now inviting applications for the position of first team manager. Interested applicants are asked to e-mail briggtownfootballclub@gmail.com in the first instance."
