Rokka extends return for big push

Elliott Rokka is extending his return to the EVO-STIK League with Colwyn Bay by at least another month to boost the Welsh club's promotion hopes.

The Northern Premier League's 2016-17 Young Player of the Year is staying on at Llanelian Road after Seagulls manager Alan Morgan persuaded Tranmere Rovers boss Micky Mellon to extend his initial one month loan deal before it expired this week.

The Manchester United academy star earned a move to the National League outfit last July from Radcliffe Borough after scoring 16 goals for the EVO-STIK League North club on the way to the division's managers crowning him as their top youngster at the 2017 Northern Premier League Players of the Year Awards.

Along with new loan signing Tom McCready from AFC Fylde, the winger, pictured in action, will now be available to face Kendal Town at home on Saturday after weather-induced postponements put paid to his hopes of playing in Bay's last two fixtures.

Morgan is looking forward to seeing Rokka boosting his side's bid to close the gap on the top six this weekend in the first of six crucial games they face in four weeks, all against teams below them in the table.

Morgan told the club's fans on Tuesday: “Elliot has done well in the three games he’s played but he is only just starting to get some match fitness back and I think we will see a lot more from him in the coming month. Full time training doesn’t compensate for not playing games and we are starting to see the benefit now of him getting a few games under his belt.”

Former Altrincham, Chester and Morecambe midfielder McCready, 26, is a product of Everton's youth team and was with League Two Exeter City for two seasons before signing for National League AFC Fylde last summer.
